Redecorating
At the beginning of the year, my Dad and I started redecorating my
flat. This main reason for this is that my hallway has been
carpetless (this is not a word according to
Wiktionary!) for
over a year due to a water pipe leaking in the concrete, which damaged the
carpet, skirting boards and wallpaper. The radius of the leak was
about three metres, which meant that it affected other rooms although the
damage was relatively minor. As we were redecorating the hall
anyway, we thought we might as well redecorate the living room.
Previously, the room was two shades of yellow, but now we have used much
lighter colours. Although I took two weeks off work to do this,
there is still much to be done including painting the doors and getting a
new carpet (colour not yet decided).
I don't have many photos of the flat before the decorating, but here is
one, which shows the old colours:

And here is how it appears now:

We have also decided that I am going to invest in double-glazing to
replace my thirty-year-old single-glazed windows, which are letting water
leak into the brickwork below. Although expensive, it will hopefully
solve the leaking problem, reduce the noise from the nearby road, be more
secure and reduce my heating bill.
Exhaust Noise
My Powerflow exhaust system that I got in 2004 for
my car, has always been fairly loud,
which although is a nice to have, it can be irritating when trying to
listen to music or if you are on a motorway - the noise at a constant
engine speed of 3,000 RPM can get a bit irritating. I have recently
had a larger silencer installed to replace a smaller one, which has meant
it has quietened down to a level, which I can live with.
Car Film
I have started to make film about my car using the camcorder I bought
in November, which will include information about my car, such as what
modifications I have made etc. I will also include footage about
work done e.g. how the exhaust sounded before and after the bigger
silencer. This will be first time I have made a film like this and I
am not sure yet if Windows Movie Maker will give the best result.
Please let me know if you know of a good one.
I heard about this website from a
post on the
Forum. You can create your own city and when
someone navigates to your city's URL, its population increases by one.
As its population increases, more buildings appear for the population to
live and work in. My city is called Unimatrix 0 (named after
something from
Star Trek:
Voyager) and this is its URL -
http://unimatrix-0.myminicity.com. At this moment in time, the
population is 15. |
