Since my last entry (which was far too long ago), martin2k Software has grown phenomenally and now has over 7,200 apps! I still use my own app (also entitled martin2k Software) as I spoke about on 12th March, but it has been upgraded a lot since then in order to cope with the amount of PAD files that come in on a daily basis. One hundred a day is not uncommon.
In Outlook, I export all the e-mails that come in to a text file, open this text file within martin2k Software and it does the rest. All pad files are automatically downloaded and processed to create the individual php files (both for each app and the category listings) ready for uploading. I know it's still quite a manual process, but it really doesn't take a lot of effort. I have found GlobalSCAPE CuteFTP to be an excellent way of uploading the files as I normally have to upload about 300-400 at once. It is a lot faster and reliable than Windows Explorer for uploading (within Vista at least (yes, I still use Vista!)).
Last week I did two exams for two OU modules I have been studying. One was M250 Object-oriented Java programming and on Friday I did MT264 Designing applications with Visual Basic. I found the VB.NET exam slightly easier than than the Java one, which I expected to be the other way around. For each exam you are allowed to take in a handbook to remind you of some of the features and syntax of the language. I found the VB.NET handbook to be more useful than the Java one, which I think must be the main reason why I found this exam easier. I don't know the results yet, but hopefully it won't be too long before I get these.
I have a break now before starting the next module in October, although I don't know what I will choose to do next.
