Mod, Award, and Skins

Just a few quick things:
Could I be reinstated as a Mod?

Is there any chance of installing some kind of award system this time?
I wouldn't mind having the Medal system again, as I've seen some phpbb add-ons for that. If you find it too involved, I wouldn't mind taking charge of it.

Lastly, the new style is nice, but any chance of multiple skins? I honestly wouldn't mind a shiny black theme, like "Stealth" skin for MSN.

NO! Rule number one when running a forum - no more skins than one.

Installing mods on multiple skins is just too much work.

Instead, use a mod that changes the stylesheet only.

Also, installing mods is really simple.

Check out Phpbb Hacks or the PhpBB forums for mods.
Their is a lot of them.

It would certainly be nice to at least customise the section headers. I think that added a nice touch to the old forum.

I just would like to be able to view the forum in another way than absurdly bright blue and white, but I wouldn't want to take it away from other folks either.
And it's cool that there are lots of hacks and such, but anything relating to an awards system? I'm even quite satisfied with the Badge/ Medal system we had way back in the day.

Yes, I agree. This template is shit. In my opinion i think I'd be better if the forum was bright brown.

I'm sorry, I believe I spaced when reading the latter of your post. I'm quite tired, being 2 in the morning, but I'm finishing a project real fast.
I had a look at that link, do you think it's ease of use will be practical? I don't know if any of us (maybe you though) are technically inclined to add such things.
But I'd like to have a system like that, it'd perhaps build some incentive for members to be more contributive, don't you think?

Be nice to have the old medal system back, but should be looking at something different really, like seperate awards for doing different things like in the way you contribute to the forums, posting games, tutorials, graphics design etc. Surely that's possible and can't really be that hard what with all these support forums.

I really think having a functional awards system like that, with different awards and such, would be a great feature.
Personally I think it would allow for so much more activity on the forums.
Hell, people kinda obsessed over the level rank, so it seems apparent that members like a reward system, and awards for little competitions and collaborations could really kickstart things. At least I assume.

Now, I've been looking at some different forum styles, and it seems you can go into your profile and switch styles at will, since there is a list to choose from. Though right now it's only the default "prosilver".

I've been thumbing through a few of them, maybe some of them can be considered?
Skyblue- Looks fairly close to the old M2K style, save for a cutesy vine on the banner, but perhaps that can be easily removed.
ProNight- A balanced dark style for those of us who can't take the strain of such a bright white forum. x|
polyethylene- Bold icons and a balanced constast. Reminds me a bit of the SilverLight (I think that was it's name) skin from the old forum.
subsilver- Small icons and a very organized look. Perfect for a simple, yet effective look. Uses soft blue and white, and doesn't have as much strain as the current skin.
Hestia- Another simple and organized forum look. Perhaps the most modernly professional looking.
Hestia Blue- Same thing as above, but with a traditional M2K blue.
RedSilver- A change of spin with a balances of red and silver, obviously. With very clear icons and posts. Reminds me a bit of the department store Target. lol
FLOWERSSSSS!!!- =D

There you go, all of those...maybe with the exception of the last one, are the ones I think are perhaps the best to go with. Nothing too fancy, but nothing too bland, just enough to give people a variance they may soon cry for. =]
