Here are the rules of Martin2k. The rules may change at anytime so regular checks are a must.

RULES OF MARTIN2K
General Rules
1. No Hacking or Viruses:
No hacking or trying to corrupt the forum in any shape way or form will not be tolerated. Also viruses uploaded to the server will be taken seriously. We keep all IP logs of the forums on backups. If you hack your IP will be banned and in extreme circumstances, appropriate legal action may be taken.
2. No Spamming:
Spam threads to increase post counts or points are not allowed at all. If a user is caught spamming the thread or reply will be deleted and a +10% warn issued.
3. No stupid Leet(1337) Speak:
It's stupid and hard to decode...it must be 1337. If you are caught using leet in your post an admin or mod will either remove the leet material or delete the post. A +10% warn will be issued.
4. No Swearing:
Although a bad word filter is in place you might be able to get around it. If you are caught swearing that has not been picked up by the filter you will incur a +10% warn and the word banned.
5. No Pornographic material allowed:
There are minors visiting this forum so lets keep it clean. Any posted pornographic material will be removed and the user will receive a nice +20% warn.
6. 3 words rule:
Its back...try to post over 3 words. Little posts with one word are just regarded as spam cause you get points for jack all. Repeat offenders will be warned.
7. Speak in English:
90% of us here mainly speak English and trying to decode/translate Swedish or any other language is hard. So try to keep it to English. Repeat offenders will be warned.
8. No content that contains information about illegal activities:
Stuff about crimes or smoking/snorting/injecting/ingesting something illegal is definitely not allowed. The illegal material will be removed and a suspension and/or warn will be issued.
9. No Flaming wars(fighting):
Don't argue here - do it elsewhere. Any flame wars will be simply deleted and the user a +10% warn.
10. No advertising:
We will not accept any posts or replies that contain a advertisement to any media. A +10% warn issued to the user and the advert removed. If you want to advertise your own website or one you enjoy, a sensible link in your signature should be included.
11. No immature language:
Posting a post with the word 'penis' in big bold letters just shows how big your brain is...not very big. So we'll just remove the immature word and give you a +10% warn.
12. No acting like a moderator:
Acting like a moderator causes flaming between members and is not necessary as Moderators can do their Job.
13. Don't over-use smilies/emoticons:
Just don't have a post made up mainly of these. It's just plain stupid. If a user posts too many a admin or mod will remove them and a +10% MAY be issued.
14. Don't double post or BUMP(Bring Up My Post):
Double posts and bumps are just plain annoying. But sometimes a glitch will cause a double post (in that case a mod will remove it). If a double post or BUMP is used on purpose they will be removed and a +10% warn may be issued.
15. Gravedigging/ Subject matter
Don't dig up old topics that haven't had attention for the last 30 days. Their time has come and gone, and usually the subject matter has since expired. In addition, topics are advised to stay on topic as best as possible. Topics that have gone seriously astray can be locked if the material becomes offensive or consists mostly of spam.
16. Warns:
Warns are an indicator if you have been naughty. Warns are a punishment of bad behaviour/breaking any rule.
They will not go down unless a mod or admin thinks your worthy enough.
Updated: 23rd May 2006
17. Bans and Suspensions:
If a user breaks more than one rule or has done a serious crime or has a 100% warn level they may be suspend or banned. Suspension is chosen by a mod or admin and is for a certain amount of time. Banning is a permanent thing. If you have been a naughty little rabbit your user account, email and IP will be banned.
Updated: 23rd May 2006
18. Catch-all (Safety guard):
If something, not listed is done and it is considered inappropriate the user will incur a punishment for it.
Updated: 30th July 2006
19. Don't overdo your signatures or avatars:
Music that plays automatically on load, signatures that are too long or seizure causing avatars/signatures are just plain annoying. Also avatars or signatures that affect the users computer by slowing the computer down is also not allowed. The offending material will be removed.
Updated: 23rd May 2006
20. Changing Display Names:
If you can change your display name and has been a member on martin2k for over a week, you have to clarify that you're the same person as your previously used Display Name. Not signifying who you are has caused a lot of frustration in the past by several veteran and new members of the forum. Showing who you used to be can vary from putting "Previously known as Gaz" in your signature or 'custom title' (under your avatar), or simply changing your display name to something like:
Before: Gaz
After: _-Gaz-_
If you need help on getting those special tags I suggest you Google for "Special ALT Characters" or use various tools available on the net.
Please respect the rules, as others will respect you for doing so.![]()
Some sections have extra rules, please consider them.
Ignorance about rules does not make anyone innocent wink.gif
That's all I could think of for now. If there's something not there that should be please contact an admin or moderator. Alternatively, you can use the Contact page: http://www.martin2k.co.uk/contact.php
I may make some amendments here:
Rule 4 [Swearing]: I consider it voided, I mean we've had the word censor for quite some duration. It's been removed for a period to see how people will act without being hindered by it. Talk like you would in public, you wouldn't just shout obscenities around the elderly and the young if you knew you could actually get in trouble for it. So behave, and understand using in moderation.
Rule 6 [Three-word rule]: Applies to a time of immense spam, people flooding the forum with one word posts. The rule didn't stop people from doing it essentially, but we still got a bit tired of posts that were singular and pointless.
Rule 7 [Speak in English]: You can speak whatever language you like. We have never had trouble with people speaking in other languages, mainly because we are so segregated that nobody speaks a common language other than English. It's common sense if you want anybody to understand you, so it's your choice.
Rule 14 [Double-Posting]: We all do it, and really its not a big deal. Again though, it's common sense, so don't go abusing it.
Granted, nobody is going to jump down your throat for anything you do wrong, but if it's prolonged and obtrusive and no action has yet been taken, then yes, something will be done.
Get me?
Alright, lunch break is over. BACK TO WORK, you slackers.
Rules revised on 5th Jan 2012 by Martin Allen.
