License problem

Postby dcbwhaley » Fri Oct 14, 2011 4:29 pm

I am using VB6 Learning Edition. I am attempting to use Microsoft multimedia control 6.0. When I attenpt to put a MM Control on a form I get the message "License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality in the design environment"

Is this simply a limitation of the Learning Edition or is it something more subtle?

Possibly.

Have you tried registering MCI32.OCX?

Run:
regsvr32 MCI32.OCX
I've been programming with VB for 17 years. Started with VB4 16bit Pro, VB5 Pro, VB6 Pro/Enterprise and now VB3 Pro. But I'm no expert, I'm still learning.

According to this Controls shipped in Visual Basic 6.0 I would say you won't be able to use it from the learning edition. What are you trying to do? You may be able to accomplish the same thing using APIs instead.

Thanks guys. I think Mark is right. I have upgraded to the Enterprise edition - don't ask :-) - and I can load it. Are there any tutorials or help on using it?

Well I'm going to ask Dave why do you have the Learning edition installed now you've installed the Enterprise edition?
