Hello folks,
I am have been using VB6 for years, can anyone point me in the right direction on getting started with .Net VB?

What do i need to get started?
How much will it cost?
How difficault is the transition?

Well you can download Visual Studio 2008 Express for free.

Or you can download Visual Studio 2010 Express Beta 2 for free.

Now I don't think these are full downloads they are the initial setup download then you have to be connected for a while while the main downloads.

Or you can search eBay. ;)
I've been programming with VB for 17 years. Started with VB4 16bit Pro, VB5 Pro, VB6 Pro/Enterprise and now VB3 Pro. But I'm no expert, I'm still learning.

So is the language itself hugely different?

Well it still uses the VB keywords that the only connection.

The first VS 2008 Express that I downloaded on 03/03/2008 was 920MB. The second was on 26/01/2009 was 716MB and Visual Studio 2010 Express downloaded on 30/12/2009 was 760MB these were all large iso files that you can use WinRAR or PowerISO to extract or burn. But these later ones are just setup file to download the full version I would imagine. ;)
