Description

Text within the PRE tag is rendered in a monospaced font - usually Courier New.  Also spaces and line breaks are preserved.

Attributes

WIDTH

Not supported in Internet Explorer.

Specifies the maximum width of each line before it breaks.  In Firefox, words at the end of lines are not split if they cause the line to be longer than the width set with this attribute.

If the width is greater than the width of the browser window, you will end up with horizontal scrollbars.

Example

Code

<pre width="80">martin2k (Martin 2000) (often shortened to m2k) was set up in 1999.  It was originally hosted on FreeUK when I used them as my ISP.  The martin2k.co.uk domain name was set up in 2000 (hence the name).

The content of the site originally included sections about my interests with certain software programs, which were Doom, Klik & Play and Visual Basic 6.0. The Doom section still exists today in the Archive.  Klik & Play was gradually replaced with a section called The Games Factory, which is a later version of Klik & Play.  The Visual Basic 6.0 section still remains today.

A section which has recently been added is called Home Made Films and was set up so that people can share their home made video creations.  There are already some films on there.

Probably the most popular section of martin2k is the Forum.  Since the Invision Forum was set up on 08 September 2004, there have been nearly 40,000 posts made by nearly 1,400 members.  The Invision forum replaced a version of Phorum, which was set up previously.</pre>
