You need to register the component with the Windows program -REGSVR32.EXE.  Use the following command:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\REGSVR32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSCOMM32.OCX

If you want to unregister the component, use the following command:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\REGSVR32.EXE /u C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSCOMM32.OCX

I'm having trouble with the dbgrid32.ocx control saying I don't have the license. I tried to register it with regsvr32 but when I click on it it says there is no DLL name specified. What do I have to do? Please help me! Thank you!

I used the command line you gave for the dbgrid32.ocx control and it said it registered successfully yet when I try to use the control I still get an error saying it's not licensed.

Try unregistering the file with the /u parameter (as shown above) first then registering it again.

You may not have registered the design time licences.

Merge the vbctrls.reg file off the VB installation CD into your registry.

Dude I have ahd the same problem. Your control is not registered with a design time liscence. Means u can use the control with an existing app, but cannt program with it. What you need to do is add vbctrls.reg to your registry and the control will be avaliable for design. (Thanks to the guy above as this was his idea and it worked great).
